Acne
When it comes to achieving healthy and youthful looking skin, there is one
ingredient that stands out above the rest in the world of skincare and this is
Retinoids. This ingredient is a complete game changer. Why, because it has the
ability to improve a wide range of skin concerns.
What are retinoids? Retinoids are a class of chemical compounds derived from
vitamin A. These ingredients are effective in improving skin texture, reducing
the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and addressing concerns like acne and
hyperpigmentation.
What are the benefits of Retinoids:
1. Reduces the signs of aging. Retinoids are renowned for their ability to
stimulate collagen production, which helps to plump the skin, smooth out
wrinkles and reduce the appearance of fine lines.
2. Evens out skin tone. By accelerating cell turnover and inhibiting melanin
production, retinoids can fade dark spots, hyperpigmentation and sun
damage, resulting in a more even and radiant skin tone.
3. Enhances overall skin health. Retinoids strengthen the skin’s barrier
function, increase hydration levels and promote a healthier complexion.
4. Fights acne. Retinoids work by unclogging pores, regulating oil production
and reducing inflammation, making them an excellent option for treating
acne and preventing future breakouts.
Retinoids work by binding to specific receptors in the skin, where they influence
cell behaviour. They accelerate the process of cellular turnover, encouraging
older, damaged cells to shed more rapidly and be replaced by fresher, healthier
ones. This fast turnover process helps to rejuvenate the skin.
When incorporating retinoids into your skincare routine, it is important to start
slowly and gradually increase usage to allow your skin to adjust.

What to expect in a Grand Retinoid Therapy treatment
Your skin is gently cleansed with Hydra Cleansing Milk, removing all traces of
dirt, grime and make up.
A triple action peeling system will see it that all dead skin cells will be removed
by the end of the treatment.
AHA Smoothing Cream is applied to the face and neck and massaged for 5
minutes until absorbed, then left for a few minutes, whilst the Exfoliating
Enzyme Mask is mixed with the Exfoliating Enzyme Lotion and gently applied
with a brush around the eye area. The face and neck are massaged which allows
the dead skin cells to come off with the cream.
Glow Peeling, a serum like product (a combination of Mandelic, Phytic, Absorbic
acids) is applied to the face and neck and left for a few minutes and then
removed. Leaving your skin completely clean and all dead skin cells are gone.
Bioplacenta Serum is applied to the face and neck until absorbed and Repairing
Mask is applied with a soft brush to face and neck. Whilst the Eye Shine Mask is
applied to the eye area.
A deeply relaxing facial massage for around 10 minutes, and then the mask is
removed with warm water.
This serum and mask will stimulate the skin’s regeneration and repairing
mechanism to restore oxidative stress and soften wrinkles.
The treatment is completed by Retinoid 3% Serum which is gently applied to the
face and neck, followed by Retinoid C Cream which is massaged until absorbed.
Skin will feel plumped, smoothed and so clean and youthful.

WHAT IS ACNE?
Acne or excessively oily skin is the most common skin complaint we hear about in beauty salons.
It is the confidence killer amongst young people and as much as we attempt, as girls to cover it up with makeup, it does nothing to help our confidence levels. It only gets worse specially around that time of the month, literally halting us in our tracks, keeping us hidden away in our bedrooms, with only Tik Tok for company! Instead of dressing up and going on that hot new date with the guy you have been drooling over for months. Why? Simply because we feel like he will be counting the pimples on our face and instead of being wowed by our amazing personality, you will have visions of him remembering that assignment he had to do on the moon! ARRRGGGGHHH!
I may be in my fifties now, but having suffered from very oily skin as a teenager, believe me, I remember it like it was only yesterday!
Acne usually begins during puberty, in line with hormone changes, and may persist into later adulthood. Approximately 80-90% of young people are affected to some degree with blemishes and 20-30% of these people will seek medical support. A number of issues contribute to acne such as hormones, climate, certain medications and genetics can trigger sebum production. The majority of acne cases vanish spontaneously after puberty. Nevertheless, effective treatment is needed to prevent the formation of lasting scars. Although acne can start or continue as an adult.
Whilst certain medications can clear up acne quite quickly, some medications can in fact cause other issues in the body and when stopping, the skin can flare up even further.
TREATMENTS FOR ACNE
Acne and the scarring that go along with this condition can be treated with an array of products. Some products can do more harm to the skin than good. There are products on the market that temporarily help the skin but then once you cease using them the skin erupts worse than ever!
Other evasive options to help acne and scarring include skin resurfacing. Chemical peel, dermabrasion, and laser resurfacing are the most commonly used techniques for improving the texture and appearance of the skin. Although these techniques use different methods, they have basically the same effect on the skin, they destroy and remove the upper layers of skin to allow for skin regrowth.
Chemical peels…just the thought of these two words is enough to send some people running for the hills!
How would you like to get the same results as other skin surfacing options, with a less evasive treatment…Juliette Armand personal professional skincare has the answer!
